This page is dedicated to my achievements from the 15 weeks of my capstone experience.
My capstone dissemination was a program development plan for community members receiving services from the North Carolina Assistive Technology Program (NCATP).
NCATP is is a state and federally funded program that provides assistive technology (AT) services statewide to people of all ages and abilities. NCATP leads North Carolina's efforts to carry out the Federal 21st Century Assistive Technology Act by providing device demonstration, device loans, and reutilization of AT.
Unity in Community: Accessibility within Technology Programs (UCATP)
UCATP is a community outreach program designed to elevate existing NCATP outreach and digital accessibility initiatives to better serve community members.
Program Goal:
To increase awareness, understanding, and access to Assistive Technology (AT) services through an engaging, video-based education series that emphasizes the relationship between people, their daily activities, the environments they navigate, and the assistive technologies that support them. Guided by the Human Activity Assistive Technology (HAAT) Model, the program demonstrates how AT can enhance safety, independence, and participation in everyday life for individuals across North Carolina.
The UCATP took a functional approach to providing AT education to community members. Videos were divided into functional rooms of the house, including: kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, living room, and office. Each educational module included two to three videos on specific AT use and demonstrations, emphasizing low-, mid-, and high-tech options available at the NCATP center. Videos were also produced to provide a general overview of how to navigate the site and the website's purpose, and an introductory video covering NCATP-specific sites and services.
The UCATP video-based series highlights implementing AT into everyday life via the nine areas of occupation while addressing the nine categories of Assistive Technology. The videos contain relevant and relatable materials that are less than five minutes in length to support viewer engagement. NCATP maintains access to all programming resources to maintain programming after the completion of my capstone semester.

Summative Outcomes Assignment
An occupational inventory binder was left at the Raleigh NCATP center for staff and community members to use as a guide when reviewing AT at the center. This binder includes organized listings of AT within each area of occupation. Each type of occupation is labeled and defined to help guide the viewer towards their desired device. Equipment is listed with a clear description and corresponding QR code to access a demonstration or product review on the device. Each selected video is less than 10 minutes in length to support learner engagement. This resource serves to support both NCATP staff and stakeholders, as well as any interested client in the center looking for a quick overview of a piece of AT.
