Research Presentation on Effectiveness of Self-Management Programs for Type II Diabetes
This presentation assisted my skills in interprofessional collaboration as I worked with PT students to analyze the effectiveness of self-management programs for treating individuals with Type II diabetes. During this presentation, I also enhanced my advocacy and research skills.
Patient Education Handout
A patient education handout was made on Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to present information at a specific literacy level. As a clinician, this project has equipped me to practice relaying education to the general public.
Conditions Presentation: Complex Trauma
This presentation discussed the mental health condition of complex trauma including condition etiology, prognosis, treatment, and management. OT's role was identified and explained via Occupational Therapy Practice Framework (OTPF) application. This presentation was instrumental in enhancing my skills in trauma informed care, which will help me perform more effectively in my current position and prepare for future responsibilities.
Case Study: Model of Human Occupation (MOHO)
This group presentation utilized the Model of Human Occupation to come up with goals and interventions for a case study patient while learning how to properly document in EHRgo. I found the presentation very impactful, as it expanded my knowledge in plan of care development and offered practical tools, interventions, and strategies that will help me advance in my career.
Presentation on Intervention & Assessment for Inidivudlas with Relapsing-Remitting Multiple Sclerosis (RRMS)
This presentation discusses the etiology of RRMS as well as justification for OT assessment & intervention when working with a client with RRMS with ataxia as a symptom. The project was completed in collaboration with PT students. This presentation enriched my understanding of MS and inspired new approaches that will be valuable for my continued professional growth.
Book Presentation on Still Alice

This presentation helped me gain skills in communication with people with cognitive impairments such as early-onset Alzheimers. Therapeutic modes and use of self were recognized and identified throughout this project as well. Concepts of occupational therapy were applied to this novel to explain the integral role of OT in dementia care. The presentation greatly supported my professional development by providing new insights and techniques that I can directly apply in my role as an OT.
Topic Presentation: Motor and Balance - LSVT-BIG
This presentation assisted my research skills in furthering my education on specific interventions that can be utilized for people with Parkinson's disease (PD) to improve motor and balance deficits. This presentation was instrumental in enhancing my skills in motor & balance deficits and treatment options for the PD population which will help me perform more effectively in my current position and prepare for future responsibilities.
Course Development Project: Graduate Gateway: The path from Undergraduate to Graduate studies
This group presentation focused on developing a course designed for incoming OTD students. This emphasized group cooperation to identify a need and design for the course. This presentation has been a meaningful contribution to my professional development, equipping me with strategies and knowledge that I can leverage in my ongoing projects
OCCT 8080 Psychiatric Conditions in Occupational Therapy Presentation
This presentation discussed the mental health conditions of Anxiety, OCD, and related disorders. this presentation included condition etiology, prognosis, treatment, and management. Advocacy III: Advocacy for Interprofessional Collaboration Between Occupational Therapists and Assistive Technology Professionals within Assistive Technology Programs to Improve Holistic Client Care
This presentation discussed an advocacy plan to advance interprofessional collaboration (IPC) between Occupational Therapists (OTs) and Assistive Technology Professionals (ATPs) with AT programs. This presentation was targeted towards AT program staff and administration personally and contains several components of an advocacy plan such as goals, objectives, strategies, the need, and a call to action. This project allowed me to advance my research on the topic and further develop my advocacy skills.
Continuing Education Project: The Importance of Mental Health on Fieldwork Performance
This group presentation focused on creating a continuing education course that emphasized the importance of student mental health on fieldwork performance and completion. This presentation has been a meaningful contribution to my professional development, equipping me with strategies and knowledge that I can leverage in my ongoing projects
Case Study Presentation: Patsy
This group presentation allowed us to utilize our clinical judgments further and goal-making skills as we identified areas of need, goals, and interventions to implement into a plan of care given to a specific client. The presentation greatly supported my professional development by providing new insights and techniques that I can directly apply in my role as an OT.
Assistive Device Project: The Bag Buddy
This project allowed me to create an assistive device for hemiplegic individuals or individuals with fine motor deficits, arthritis, UE weakness, etc. This project allowed me to creatively invent a new device that can assist clients complete their ADLs, IADLs, social participation, leisure activities, and more! This opportunity allowed me to acquire creativity and purpose towards developing a new device and providing client education on device implementation as a form of intervention.
Educational Handout: Glacoma
This project allowed me to create an educational handout catered to caregivers of loved ones with glaucoma. This handout contains an application component that ensures the comprehension and follow-through of at-home modification suggestions in order to best accommodate the safety of their loved one with glaucoma. This project gave me a resource I can utilize for future clients and caregivers if struggling with home modifications as a result of glaucoma or visual impairments.
Cultural Awareness Presentation
This presentation assisted my cultural competence in understanding various cultures and several considerations to take into account throughout the OT process. Our group conducted a literature review and interview with a client of Chinese culture. This presentation describes important considerations to follow when working with future clientele of Chinese descent.
Program Development Presentation: The Life Through Our Eyes: An Eye-Opening Experience
This presentation provides an overall overview of the program development plan proposal my partner and I constructed over the course of our spring semester and fieldwork experiences at The Sight Center of NWO. This presentation covers literature reviews, needs assessment, goals & objectives, program evaluation, participant description, marketing, and budgeting steps to the construction of a program development plan that we created and carried out.
